Welcome to The Coronado High School Band Program of Scottsdale, Arizona!

Coronado High School is a public, four-year secondary school which is part of the Scottsdale Unified School District.  Scottsdale is a city of over 200,000 in the northeast area of the Valley of the Sun.  The student population at Coronado High School is approximately 1250.  Coronado is proud to maintain a reputation of excellence musically, athletically and academically within a diverse environment.

The Coronado High School Marching Band has experienced great success.  With a Superior rating at the Arizona State Marching Band Competition, the
80 member Marching Band has come a long way to make their school proud.


The Concert Band Program at Coronado High School consists of approximately 65 students in the ninth through twelfth grades. The program is broken up into three parts: Concert/Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Percussion.  The combined group rehearses outside the school day to prepare for adjudication and concert performances.

Mr. Lee is a native Iowan and has taught for 34 years in four different schools in Iowa.  He is a 1983 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and a Trumpet Emphasis.  He also holds a Masters Degree in Education from Viterbo University in Lacrosse, Wisconsin.


 He was active in the Iowa Bandmaster Association serving as president of the Southwest Iowa Band Masters Association and the South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association as well as serving as district representative for Marching Band Affairs and Concert Band Affairs over many years in both districts.


Mr. Lee has been a judge for the Iowa High School Music Association adjudicating state marching, concert, jazz and solo/small ensemble festivals as well as serving as adjudicator for the all-state auditions and chair placement at the all-state festival.  He has also judged numerous other contests and festivals, served as clinician and directed several honor bands.


Under his tenure, his bands have traveled to Orlando, Chicago, Denver, Kansas City and Phoenix to participate in festivals and competitions.  He has worked as advisor for the Iowa Ambassadors of Music and traveled in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016 with over 300 Iowa band and choir members for a 16 day Europe tour.


 His teaching philosophy includes providing the best education possible to all students to prepare them for their post-secondary goals as well as developing high level musicianship for each individual and all ensembles.


He along with his wife JoEllen have three adult children still living in Iowa and they are both excited to work with the Coronado High School Band and Orchestra Students and Parents.

Tax Credit 2016

Arizona law allows taxpayers to receive a tax credit of up to $200 for individual filers and up to $400 for married filers. You can claim the tax credit when filing your 2017 Arizona State Income Tax.


Your contribution must be received online by April 15, 2018. It's a win-win situation for you and the school! Contributions received from January 1, 2018 thru April 15, 2018 can be claimed on your Arizona State tax return for either 2017 OR 2018.


Contributions can be made by cash, check, or online. Recurring online payments are now an option as well.  Please print and fill out the Tax Credit Form if you are paying by cash or check. Checks should be made payable to Scottsdale Unified School District and can be mailed directly to the school or to the Education Center located at 7575 E. Main Street.


If the program isn't listed on the Tax Credit form, please write in the program under other "Coronado Dons Band".
